Africa Night is back this year. The Zoological Society of Auckland in partnership with Auckland Zoo, offers you an unforgettable evening in Africa without having to leave New Zealand. Immerse yourself in the sights, sounds and tastes of this continent that’s so famous for its awe-inspiring wildlife.
Your urban safari begins at 4.30pm with a behind-the-scenes tour and the chance to get up close to some of Africa’s most well known wildlife wich may include lions, hippos, rhinos, and giraffe. Following the urban safari, enjoy a traditional African dinner in the Old Elephant House - served by many of Auckland Zoo's keepers.
After dinner, a live and silent auction offers you the opportunity to bid for some unique and affordable items. Then a special guest speaker will entertain you with a stunning photo journey and tales of Africa.
The night is a joint fundraiser for the Auckland Conservation Fund and Zoological Society of Auckland to help support conservation projects as well as provide grants to further conservation work or studies.
“Africa Night is a unique experience not to be missed; it is a complete African treat for the senses! It’s also a great chance to support the work of the Zoo’s Conservation Fund which supports a range of local and international projects for endangered wildlife, including some of the African animals you will meet on the night,” says Auckland Zoo Conservation Officer, Peter Fraser.
